so, some of you might have noticed some changes around the supernicety, some may not have, and even more might not care (and at this point, I have probably over-represented the number of people actually paying attention to this blog). that said, k and i wanted to bring to your attention a number of changes to both the blog at the supernicety and beyond.

first, you may have noted that the supernicety has been moved to a new server. we have moved to the much more stable hosting company, dreamhost, in hopes of avoiding any further server crashes (/me knocks on wood). since we had the chance to make some changes, please now note that the main blog is now located at thesupernicety.com. please make a note of the changed admin login, for which a link is provided to the right. also, please update your bookmarks and rss feed, as they have changed. all old email addresses still work, though your email server settings (if applicable) will likely need to be updated as well.

the changes are not solely administrative, however. as you may have noted, we have made some recent additions to our posting staff: please welcome c, a fantastic writer from the mother-vandy-land, whose unbelievable wit and and writing style makes her the only one of us who writes for a living; also, please welcome a, aka baudburn, who will be joining us again shortly following a move to finally be reunited (or at least, living in the same city) with the love of his life. Continuing on is mcc, k, t, g and myself. p may be able to comment from time to time, but given his duties to our country, we have much patience.

features-wise, we have a few new things going on here. first of all, to your right you may notice the new random song lyric generator entitled The New Bullshit Emo. Don’t ask. Or do. Whichever. anyway, if you have any favorite lyrics you would like to add, please do not hesitate to leave it in the comments, email to me, whatever. Also new: a challenge system for comments. We may finally have a method to keep all those bastard comment spammers from ruining what little commentary we may have.

i’ll let k add anything else that i forgot, but welcome, please come back often, post often, comment often, and let’s see if we can make something of this place. OBE forever and whatnot.

well, i should have known better than to think this wordpress upgrade would ‘just work.’ if you notice some odd behavior with the blog the next few days, just know that k and i are trying to work out the kinks. we upgraded wordpress to get around the problem with the “previous entries” link below. now, you may note that not only is that not working, but neither are permalinks. huzzah! great suggestion r!

Ok, I know we don’t have many readers, but I’d feel remiss if I took the site down without making a post…

We’ve got some issues going on that appear to be fixed in the 2.0 version of WordPress. Since we’re still on 1.5.something, I guess it’s time to bite the bullet.

Expect the site to go away sometime around 8 pm. If the universe chooses to give me a break, it’ll be back up before midnight. I’ll do my best to make it all as painless as possible… promise.

I know you all have been keeping close track yourselves, so it’s certainly quite redundant for me to note that today is the one year anniversary of this iteration of the supernicety. How the time has flown by, eh?

Now, given my proclivities, you might be thinking “Oh, shit, he’s gonna change the site again… we’re boned.” But I’m not planning any such thing, friends. I’m pretty happy with what we’ve got and have little intention of messing with it. Much. For sure, there are a few things brewing, and I’ll get to them in due time, but all in all this has been a successful design and platform and I think we’ll stick to it for a while.
