an actual conversation that just occurred between m and i:
m: i can’t get through to [friend]
r: huh
m: it just keeps ringing, but no voicemail
r: …
m: i wonder if she is dialing up
r: what?
m: i wonder if [friend] is dialing up
r: what is dialing up? (no sarcasm or g-mode)
m: …
m: dialing up? like with a computer?
r: oh. wow. i haven’t “dialed up” in like ten years
